Matthew Hood is a Producer and Editor at Bamboo Shoots, where he specializes in organizing shoots, scheduling, directing on set, operating cameras, and editing—all with the goal of bringing powerful stories to life.
He earned a BFA in Film Production from the University of Regina, graduating with great distinction in 2023. With four years of professional experience, he joined Bamboo Shoots in May 2023, bringing a strong foundation in cinematography, lighting, and editing. His ability to adapt workflows to meet budget and scheduling needs makes him a key player on both corporate and creative projects.
Some of his notable projects include Another Day’s Past – A 1-hour Remembrance Day documentary special for SaskTel maxTV, NSBA P&E 2025 Documentary, Searchers (Season 1) (APTN series), Behind the Menu – Cork & Bone Bistro, and as camera operator on a Jordan Peterson podcast with over 2.4 million views on YouTube
Matthew thrives on meeting new people and working with them to tell unique stories. He also has a deep passion for cinematography,
crafting visually striking imagery through cameras and lighting to enhance storytelling. When he’s not behind the camera, Matthew is an outdoor enthusiast, with a love for hunting and fishing. He draws inspiration from some of the industry’s greatest minds, including Roger Deakins, Denis Villeneuve, Steven Spielberg, Ken Burns, Errol Morris, Michael Del Monte, and Luc Forsyth.
